Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapy approach that helps people heal from the emotional distress caused by difficult or traumatic experiences. It works by using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help the brain process and “unstick” memories, so they feel less overwhelming and more manageable. Many people find EMDR helps them feel relief faster than traditional talk therapy.
Many of the people I work with are high functioning, deeply responsible, and quietly exhausted.
EMDR might be a good fit for you if:
-
You were the responsible one growing up.
-
You keep reliving a painful memory.
-
You're burnt out, and rest doesn't seem to help.
-
You feel guilty when you say no or put yourself first.
-
You're highly capable on the outside and depleted on the inside.
-
You have all the insight but are still feeling stuck.
-
Your body is carrying what you haven't had a chance to process.
